early life

Dagrin was born on October 25, 1984 in Ogun State, Southwestern Nigeria. He died on April 22, 2010, in Mushin, Lagos State, Southwestern Nigeria, at the age of 25. He started his music career in 1994 until his death in 2010, at the age of 25.

His father is Comrade Olaniyi Abolaji Olanipekun and his mother is Falilat Olaonipekun. He has two siblings, an elder sister named Bukky Olaonipekun and a younger brother named Olatunbosun ‘TROD’ Olaonipekun who is also a rapper.

Daglin is from Ogun State in southwestern Nigeria, where he completed his primary and secondary education and obtained the Junior Secondary School Certificate and the West African Senior Secondary School Certificate.

After completing his early education, Dagrin moved to Lagos to pursue his career as a rapper. While in Lagos, he lived in Alabado Melan, Lagos State.

In 2010, he was nominated for the Nigeria Entertainment Awards for Best Album CEO, Hottest Single “Pon Pon Pon”, Best Rap Performance and Best Vocal Collaboration. His album CEO (Chief Executive Omota English: Chief Executive Thug) was nominated for Best Rap Album at the 2010 Hip Hop World Awards.

The album released the singles “Pon Pon Pon” and “Kondo”. YQ, 9ice, MI Abaga, Iceberg Slim, Omobaba, Terry G, Ms. Chief, Owen G, K01, Code, Mister Dollar, TMD Entertainment, Omawumi, Chudy K, Bigiano and Konga are some of the Nigerian musicians that Dagrin has collaborated with. Sossick, Dr. Frabz, Sheyman, Frenzy, 02 and Heavy L Beatz are also among his musical partners.

Dagrin’s third studio album, If I Die, was released posthumously. “If I Die” is one of the songs he sang on the album If I Die, as if he knew he was going to die soon after the album was released.
