It’s great. With its animated moments, it pays homage to its origins as a visual novel, especially when emotions run high. Hands almost touch; animated lightning bolts crackle between them. Hearts appear in the air as Charlie’s friend Elle wonders if she’s in love with their other friend, Tao.

It feels like a remake of Hollyoaks with an art school twist. There are a few minor squabbles between Charlie’s friends, but the focus is mainly on Charlie and Nick. Apart from a parent and Stephen Fry, who appears as the headmaster shouting through a Tannoy, the adults are pretty much non-existent.

While talking to the interviewer AttitudeJoe and Kit also recalled their on-screen kiss during rehearsals.

“I drink a lot of coffee, but I feel like it’s just a part of me!” Joe admitted in the interview. “I’ll go [on set] “And have a cup of coffee because I won’t be able to function,” Kit said with a smirk. “That means there are a few kissing scenes where I get punished a lot…”

“That makes me sound like a really bad person!” Joe exclaimed. “I was chewing gum!” Kit continued: “Yeah, there’s a moment where you get caught off guard and you’re like, ‘Okay, we need to rehearse this kissing scene….’”
