Dauda Lawal was born on September 2, 1965 in the Zamfara region of Nigeria.

He started working for First Bank of Nigeria Plc as a relationship manager in 2003 and has held various senior management positions in the Abuja Regional office.

After holding various positions, he was promoted to executive vice president, public sector, North of First Bank of Nigeria Plc, in 2011. In 2012, he was appointed regional executive director public sector North of First Bank of Nigeria Plc.

Dauda Lawal later entered politics, running against Idris Shehu Mukhtar in the APC primary election for Zamfara governor in 2018.

He ran for and won the position of governor of Zamfara state under the People’s Democratic Party in the 2023 Zamfara state gubernatorial election.
