Grady Demond Wilson (born October 13, 1946) is an American writer and actor.

He played Lamont Sanford, son of Fred Sanford (played by Redd Foxx) on the NBC sitcom Sanford and Son (1972-77) and Oscar Madison on The Odd Couple (1982-83). He starred in the 1993 film Me and My Kid.

Wilson was born on Oct. 13, 1946, in Valdosta, Georgia, and grew up in New York City, where she studied tap and ballet.

He made his Broadway debut at age four and performed at the Apollo Theater in Harlem at age twelve. Wilson was raised Catholic and served as an altar boy. Wilson’s grandmother was a Pentecostal and he considered becoming a Catholic priest.

Wilson nearly died when his appendix ruptured at age thirteen, but he was determined to serve God in some way as an adult.

Wilson served in the U.S. Army from 1966 to 1968 and was wounded while serving with the 4th Infantry Division in Vietnam.

After playing a gangster in All in the Family with Cleaven Little, Wilson was offered the role of Lamont Sanford on the NBC sitcom Sanford and Son in 1971. Johnny Brown was considered for the role, but Wilson was ultimately chosen because of his commitment to Laughter.

Wilson played Lamont throughout the series and became the star of the show after Redd Foxx left the show in 1974 due to a salary dispute with producers, and his character was written off for the remainder of the season.

Fox returned the following year, and the two continued to work together until the show was canceled in 1977. Wilson wrote several Christian books about the New Age movement and the hidden threat he believed it posed to society.
