Early life and education
DJ Roja, a famous DJ, was born on September 29, 1989 in the vibrant city of Kampala, Uganda. Coming from a family with the honorary title of Hajji, he was lovingly raised by his parents, Nsubuga Ganga and Agnes Nankabirwa.
Throughout her childhood journey, DJ Roja was accompanied by her older sister, Christine Nampeera. A nomadic lifestyle marked their growth as they lived in various neighborhoods in Kampala, such as Ntinda, Kireka, Kiwatule and Kamokya.
DJ Roja has a diverse educational background, having attended many schools, such as City High School And Kanjuki High SchoolAfter finishing high school, he enrolled in Kyambogo UniversityMbale branch, pursuing a degree in mechanical engineering specializing in refrigeration and air conditioning.
Career
DJ Roja’s career took an unexpected turn when he gave up on his dreams of becoming an engineer, realising that they did not fit with his career ambitions during an internship at the Sheraton Kampala Hotel.
His journey to becoming a DJ began when he met DJ Pollo, became a student of DJ Pollo and often carried heavy sound equipment.
DJ Mercy then paved the way for DJ Roja to secure a gig at the bar, a stepping stone that led him to the respected Beats for Life at Bugolobi. Prior to that, Roja began his DJ career under DJ Crim at Green Heva before finding the way to Waiting room.
Waiting room marked a turning point in the career of DJ Roja, initially an emerging DJ under the guidance of the late DJ Momo. Here, he met MC Kats, who introduced him to Ibrah Kadanke, opening the door to becoming a DJ at various school events.
DJ Roja’s journey took a significant turn when he came across Slick Stuart in late 2012, a DJ known for his expansive mixes.
In 2014, after discovering their shared musical interests, DJ Roja and Slick Stuart considered collaborating. Initially, they adopted a unique format, alternating between five-song sets.
An inspiring moment happened at Badi’s studio, where they listened to A Pass’ Mumpulila. Interestingly, they did not produce a music video for the song, while A Pass Bagonza still retains full copyright ownership.

Personal life
34-year-old DJ Roja and his girlfriend Daniella have been in a serious relationship for a long time. However, despite their strong relationship, they are yet to have children.
In 2019, a heartbreaking incident occurred when DJ Roja allegedly attacked Daniella and went on the run. It was rumored that his colleagues at work helped him evade authorities as police searched for him in every possible location.
