Don Jazzy (born Michael Collins Ajereh) is a household name in the Nigerian music industry.
Currently the CEO of Mavin Records and founder of Mo’ Hits Records, Don Jazzy works as a music producer, sound engineer, singer and songwriter.
He rose to fame after producing the albums No Long Thing and Rundown/Funk You Up. He has also worked with musical artists such as D’Banj, Sauce Kid (Sinzu), Dr SID, Ikechukwu, Kween, D’Prince, Jay-Z and Kanye West in a very illustrious career.
On April 3, 2021, the Nigerian music producer sparked mixed reactions on social media after sharing a photo of his ex-wife, whom he married in 2001, while in London.

Early life
Michael Collins Ajereh aka Don Jazzy was born in Unmuahia, Abia State, to Mr. and Mrs. Collins Enebeli Ajereh on 26 November 1982. His father was an indigene of the Isoko tribe in Delta State while his mother was an Igbo princess from Abia State.

Don Jazzy grew up with his older brother Charles Enebeli (popularly known as D’Prince), in Ajegunle, Lagos State, after his parents moved west in the late 80s. It was at this time that he developed a love for music and soon learned to play the bass guitar and piano. He is also known for his skills in playing traditional instruments and percussion.
The award-winning music producer struggled as a toddler in Ajegunle locality. It took him a few years to adjust to life in the City, after moving from Abia State.
At the turn of the millennium, Don Jazzy got the chance to travel abroad after his uncle asked him to play drums for a church in London. He eventually landed a job as a security guard at McDonald’s and built valuable relationships with musical artists such as Solek, JJC, Kas, Jesse Jagz, The 419 Squad and D’Banj.
Education
Don Jazzy began and completed his primary education at Ajegunle, Lagos State, before enrolling at Federal Government College, Lagos. During his schooling, he joined the school’s music club, making the most of his free time.
After completing his Senior Secondary School Certificate at both the Secondary and Senior Secondary levels, Don Jazzy was admitted to study Business Administration at Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, Edo State.
Career
Don Jazzy teamed up with music artist D’Banj to form Mo’ Hits Records in 2004. Together they created a music label that lasted for nearly a decade.
Under the music label, he produced the albums, No Long Thing and Rundown/Funk You Up. He became famous for his catchphrase, It’s Don Jazzy Again!, which served as an introduction to the songs he featured on. Don Jazzy has worked with Wande Coal, D’Prince and Dr SID, contributing to the production of landmark albums such as Wande Coal’s Mushin 2 MoHits.
With extensive experience in audio engineering and music production, he went on to provide background vocals for D’Banj, Sauce Kid, Dr SID, Ikechukwu, Kween, D’Prince and Jay-Z, gaining international recognition after working as a producer on Kanye West’s Very Good Beatz in 2011. He also worked with Jay-Z during that time. In March 2012, Don Jazzy and D’Banj decided to part ways due to artistic differences.

On May 7, 2012, Don Jazzy launched another record label, Mavin Records, and released an album featuring all the artists signed to him. The songs recorded on the album include; Amarachi, Oma Ga, Take Banana and Chocolate, YOLO, and later the I’m a MAVIN anthem. The record label also signed talented music artist, Tiwa Savage.
On November 7, 2013, Wande Coal parted ways with Mavin Records after a conflict with Ajereh, a member of the group, two days earlier. Reekado Banks also left the group a few years later. Recently, Mavin Records signed Ayra Starr, a talented young music artist.

He also announced his intention to find a new girlfriend in December 2020, stating that he was very fond of American music artist Rihanna.
Don Jazzy is also a wealthy man. Earlier this year, he shared a photo on Instagram of his newly purchased 300 million naira house in Lekki, Lagos State. He also owns a number of expensive cars, namely;
