Jude Okoye, brother and former manager of iconic duo P-Square, has publicly addressed the ongoing financial and legal disputes involving him, twin brothers Peter and Paul Okoye, and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Jude Okoye expressed his frustration at the expectations people placed on him as the elder brother to mediate conflicts. “Everyone says I’m their brother and I should settle their differences, but with someone who doesn’t respect you, how can you keep that person on track?”, he posted, highlighting the complexity of family and business relationships.
The crux of the matter revolves around the distribution of income from P-Square projects. Jude revealed, “I only get 40% share in P-Square’s earnings while they share 30%.” The statement sparked a wave of reactions on social media, with many users expressing shock at the stock distribution, suggesting that Jude’s management role may have been disproportionately compensated.
The story hit a dead end when allegations surfaced that Jude and his wife, Ifeoma Okoye, also known as Ify Okoye, had set up a secret company, Northside Musicaccused of transferring money from P-Square’s main company, Northside EntertainmentIn his defence, Peter Okoye has vehemently denied the allegation of reporting Paul Okoye to the EFCC, focusing instead on the financial irregularities he uncovered.
Paul Okoye, better known by his stage name Rudeboy, has confirmed P-Square’s disbandment, blaming creative differences and personal grievances, including the EFCC investigation, which despite clearing him, left a mark on their relationship.
The EFCC got involved after Peter accused Jude and his wife of financial mismanagement. This led to a highly publicized investigation, further straining family relations. Jude’s admission of his share of P-Square’s earnings added fuel to the fire, with fans and observers questioning the fairness of such a deal.
The family feud, now in the public eye, has not only affected Okoyes’ personal life but also cast a shadow over the legacy of P-Square, one of Africa’s most successful bands. The dispute has led to a significant rift, with both brothers’ wives also taking sides, elevating a personal affair into a public spectacle.
