Erica Mena is debunking ex Safaree Samuels’ claims that he ghostwrote Nicki Minaj.
In an interview with Bunnie XO gave her Dumb blonde podcast, Mena sat down and shared her side of the story talking about her relationship with Samuels’ allegations that he wrote to Minaj.
“I remember him pouring his heart out to me about all the things she did to him, videos of her reactions. This is a video he took around the industry showing the time he trying to bring her down, lying to everyone.” said he wrote to her. Say whatever you can to ruin her career,” Mena began.
She later clarified and said she owed Minaj an apology for allowing Samuels to talk about Minaj to her.
“From there, he said things, made excuses, vouched for himself and spoke out about her in a confusing way. In the end, I didn’t know the truth,” she added.
Mena continued: “A lot of women get stuck with a man who allows him to gossip to you about his ex. They never tell you what they’ve been up to. Everything she Everything said about him is true.”
Earlier this month, Samuels spoke out about rumors that he wrote music for Minaj throughout their relationship, from 2003-2014.
“She is more capable of creating her own music, which she has always been able to do,” said the above Everything Keyshia Ka’oir podcasts.
Claims about Samuels writing music for Minaj date back to 2015 when the rapper hinted that he wrote some of Minaj’s bars in his song “Lifeline.”
“My bars on The Pinkprint will be second to none“, he said on the track.
Minaj has always denied these accusations.
Elsewhere in the podcast, Samuels explains that he’s more of a cheerleader than a collaborator in the relationship.
“If anything, I’m a hype man, a cheerleader,” he added.
The couple mostly kept their relationship out of the spotlight, but their breakup was not without its share of drama. Samuels blamed their breakup on Minaj’s sudden fame.
“She’s one of the biggest stars on this earth. Everything in her life is changing and it’s just a lot of changes,” he said.
Samuels continued to attend one of Minaj’s performances on her Pink Friday 2 tour long after their breakup and shared his support for her on X after the event.
“I’m proud beyond measure… many people will never understand but I have no malice… I’m proud,” he said.
