She hails from a small village called Oke-Ode in Ifeloden Local Government Area of Kwara State in southwestern Nigeria.
She grew up in Lagos in a middle-class family and is a Yoruba from the tribe.

Later, she received more training under the guidance of Rafiu Balogun, an experienced filmmaker at the “Balogun” troupe.
Fausat Balogun’s first outside acting appearance was in the television series “Afonja” produced and aired on Channel 10 of the Nigerian Television Network Authority (NTA).
Fausat Balogun rose to fame on stage when she starred in another TV series produced by her husband Rafiu Balogun, Abeni Ajagun, in 1979. The film was well received and catapulted her to stardom.
She was once again a part of another hit comedy series “Erin Kee Kee” which was once again loved by the fans and soon her fans started calling her by the character she played in the movie – Madam Saje.
Her growing experience in the industry led her to start her own production career, the first being the film Alaroka directed by the late Prince Alade Aromire. She then did another film Oro Itan followed by Ebi Dapo.
Fausat Balogun’s hard work and dedication to the development of Yoruba movies caught the attention of City People Entertainment, which honoured her with an award at its 2016 awards gala in recognition of her contribution to the development of the movie industry.
