Final Fantasy VII: Reborn Queen’s Blood Beginner’s Guide
What is Queen’s Blood?
Queen’s Blood is an engaging card game set in the Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy, specifically introduced in FF7 Rebirth. The game involves collecting powerful cards during the game and fighting against opponents of increasing levels. The game board of Queen’s Blood consists of three rows of seven spaces, and you need to place cards on the controlled squares, which provides players with a strategic challenge.
Card Type:
There are four main types of cards in Queen’s Blood, each with a different strategy:
- Cards without rules: Focus on the affected cards and overall power rankings.
- Enhancement Cards: Enhance yourself or other cards, affecting a single play or the entire game.
- Weaken Card: Weaken the ability of yourself or other cards, affecting an action or the entire game.
- Replacement Cards: Rare and game-changing, they often replace other cards and are affected by the circumstances around them.
How to Play Queen’s Blood:
Queen’s Blood is an esoteric card game with unique rules. Here are the main aspects:
- Preparation and Starting Hand: Start with a deck of 15 cards and draw five cards at random. You may reshuffle the deck, but the second draw is final.
- Starting Rank: You always go first. You place cards on the tile you initially control, and the rank of the cards determines the potential power of subsequent play.
- Increasing levels: Cards affect specific cards depending on position, and as you increase your level, more powerful cards become available.
- Winning Strategy: Develop a strategy to control the cards and not give your opponent any chances. Use cards wisely, consider enhancements, weakenings, and substitutions.
Collect Cards and Player Levels:
- Get Cards: Buy booster packs of existing cards from vendors. Win by winning to win your opponent’s cards.
- Player Level: Winning tournaments increases your Queen’s Blood level. NPCs have a minimum level to challenge. The tournament held on Shinra-8 during Chapter 6 offers unique cutscenes.
Queen’s Blood Rewards:
- In-Game Rewards: Successfully playing Queen’s Blood will unlock satisfying and tangible rewards, including unique cutscenes during the Shinra-8 Tournament.
- Side Quest Integration: Queen’s Blood intersects with side quests and may require winning the game. As you progress through the Queen’s Blood side quests, you’ll earn more rewards.
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is an action role-playing game developed and published by Square Enix. It is the sequel to Final Fantasy VII Remake (2020), the second in a planned trilogy of remakes of the iconic 1997 PlayStation game Final Fantasy VII.
Rebirth continues the gameplay style of its predecessor, blending real-time action with strategy and role-playing elements. The storyline follows the events of Rebirth and tells the story of mercenary Claude Strife and the AVALANCHE eco-terrorist organization. Their mission is to travel across planets and stop the super-corporation Shinra from using Lifestream as an energy source. Their ultimate goal is to confront Sephiroth, a former elite soldier who aims to unite with the planets to gain greater power.
Rebirth began production in November 2019 ahead of the release of the remake, and was officially unveiled in June 2022. The core staff of the previous game returned to their original positions, with Tetsuya Nomura as creative director (not director) and Naoki Hamaguchi as director (not co-director).
Released exclusively for PlayStation 5 on February 29, 2024, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth continues the legacy of this beloved series with a gripping storyline and engaging gameplay.
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth gameplay
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is one of a trilogy of remakes of the classic 1997 PlayStation game. It continues the story after Final Fantasy VII Remake (2020), following the characters’ escape from Midgar.
The protagonist is Claude Strife, a former Shinra soldier now allied with the eco-terrorist group AVALANCHE, which opposes Shinra’s plundering of Earth’s life energy. The story revolves around their conflict with Sephiroth, an elite soldier who was originally thought to be dead but has returned for a showdown. Like Remake, Rebirth reimagines the original game with added character depth and narrative expansion.
Compared to the linear Midgar of the remake, the game involves real-time exploration and combat, and the game world is more open. Objective markers guide players through the main and side quests, and distances are displayed on the heads-up display. Chocobos provide faster travel speeds, and combat combines action-centric melee and active battle (ATB) systems.
Characters can be switched freely to strategically use physical attacks, magic and items. The “synergy” mechanism introduced in the DLC “Episode INTERmission” allows synchronized attacks at a slower ATB bar fill rate.
