According to author Tom Bower in his book Revealing Beckham’s houseThe rift deepened after reports emerged in The Sun about Victoria giving Markle makeup advice.

Furthermore, Bower claimed in his investigation that Markle’s husband, Prince Harry, was instructed to express his displeasure with David Beckham, which further strained their relationship.
The football legend, 49, has maintained a friendship with Harry’s older brother, Prince William, exacerbating tensions with the Sussexes.

Bower, 77, stated: “Since hosting the 2010 World Cup, the two have had a good relationship. “For the Sussexes, who have complained about their unequal status and wealth compared to the Cambridges, seeing Becks with William was upsetting.”
But according to Bower’s book, Markle had other concerns. The California native is said to have become “angry” at the Beckhams’ wealth.
“In Meghan’s celebrity world, rankings depend on wealth and fame,” Bower wrote. As a seasoned executive, Meghan deluded herself that her status within the royal family placed her above Victoria in the social pecking order.”[Meghan and Harry] own five homes, frequent use of private jets, invitations to cruises, and more money. And she will soon be a duchess.”
Furthermore, Prince Harry, Markle reportedly asked the fashion designer turned Spice-Girl for free clothes and handbags, but this request was “vetoed by [Buckingham] Palace for going against their rules.”
The royal wedding in May 2018 took place during a tumultuous period in their relationship with the Beckhams, highlighted by an invitation partly meant to emphasize their status. While Victoria and David received invitations to the wedding, they were noticeably absent from the exclusive dinner that followed.

The relationship was clearly strained when Markle and Harry were left off the guest list at the 2022 wedding of David and Victoria’s son, Brooklyn Beckham and Nicola Peltz.
Although William and Kate Middleton were invited, they politely declined.
Following tensions between the couples, Victoria publicly praised Markle, echoing the Hollywood star’s 2019 endorsement of “women’s power.”
