Franck Yannick Kessié (born 19 December 1996) is a talented footballer from Ivory Coast. He plays as a central midfielder or defensive midfielder for Saudi Pro League club Al-Ahli and the Ivory Coast national team. He played for Serie A club AC Milan before joining Spanish powerhouse FC Barcelona.

Early life
Franck Kessie was born on December 19, 1996 in the village of Ouragahio, South Central Ivory Coast. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. Kessie, gave birth to him.
The player is black and hails from the Ivory Coast. In fact, Didier Drogba’s legendary West African homeland is where his family has deep roots.

On 1 March, he started his European debut against AC Milan Primavera. Franck Kessie was called up to the first team on 18 April 2015, for a match against Roma, although he did not play in the 1–1 draw the following day. He signed a one-year loan deal with Serie B side Cesena on 26 August 2015. On 26 September, he made his professional debut, replacing Antonino Ragusa in a 0–0 away draw against Perugia.
On 31 October 2015, Franck Kessie scored his first goal as a professional, netting the winning goal in a 2–0 home win over Virtus Lanciano. He was a regular starter thereafter, playing in 37 games and scoring four goals as his team narrowly missed out on promotion to the knockout stages.
Gian Piero Gasperini handed Franck Kessie a promotion to the first team after his return from loan. He made his La Dea debut on 13 August 2016, starting and scoring the final goal in a 3–0 home Coppa Italia win over Cremonese after appearing with the first team during pre-season. He extended his contract until 2021 six days later.
On 21 August 2016, he made his professional debut in Italy, starting and scoring twice in a 4–3 home defeat to Lazio. Seven days later, in a 2–1 away defeat to Sampdoria, he scored another goal.
Franck Kessie then established himself as a regular for Gian Piero Gasperini, scoring the winning goal against Roma (2-1 home win) and Torino (2-1 home win). He initially decided to wear the number 19 shirt, but the club’s management soon convinced him to give it up to Leonardo Bonucci, who moved to Milan a few weeks later. As a result, he changed it to number 79.
When Leonardo Bonucci left Milan in the following summer transfer window, he was offered his original number but refused, saying he did not want the team’s fans to have to buy customised shirts for another number change. On 21 January 2018, Milan defeated Cagliari thanks to two goals from Franck Kessie, one of which was a penalty. On 31 August 2018, he scored the first goal in a 2–1 win over Roma. He was sent off against Juventus in the Supercoppa Italiana final on 16 January 2019, which Juventus won 1–0.
He scored the only goal in a 1–0 win over Lazio on 13 April. He scored twice against SPAL on 26 May to help his team win 3–2. He scored the winning goal away to Genoa on 5 October 2019. He scored the equalizer on 7 July 2020 to help Milan come from behind to win 4–2 against Juventus.
Franck Kessie scored from the penalty spot on 12 July against Napoli to level the score at 2–2. He scored the equalizer in a 3–1 win over Parma on 15 July with a powerful shot from 25 yards.
In a 2–0 win over Crotone on 27 September, Franck Kessie scored his first goal of the year from the penalty spot. He scored in a 2–1 win over Udinese on 1 November at the Stadio Friuli. He scored a penalty and missed another as his team won 2–0 on 29 November against Fiorentina.

He converted a penalty in the final seconds of the first half against Sampdoria on 6 December at the Luigi Ferraris to give his team the lead and secure a tense 2–1 victory. He converted a penalty in his team’s 2–1 win over Roma on 28 February 2021. He secured Milan’s second place in the 2020–21 Serie A and, after an eight-year absence, qualification for the 2021–22 UEFA Champions League on 23 May with two penalties in a 2–0 away win over his former club, Atalanta.
Franck Kessie won a penalty against Lazio on 12 September 2021, but failed to convert, resulting in a 2–0 win for Milan. With Milan leading 1–0 against Atletico on 28 September in a UEFA Champions League match, he was sent off in the 29th minute and Milan went on to lose 1–2.
He scored the opening goal in a 2–0 win over Salernitana on 4 December. The last AC Milan midfielder to score that many goals in a calendar year was Kaká in 2008. He reached 14 Serie A goals in the calendar year 2021 on 22 December against Empoli.
It was Franck Kessie’s last match and goal for Milan when he scored the third goal in a 3–0 win over Sassuolo on 22 May 2022. After the goal, he went to the Milan fans at the Mapei Stadium and greeted them in his signature way; he then announced his departure and thanked the supporters. Barcelona announced on 4 July 2022 that they had signed a deal with Franck Kessie.
