Joycelyn Savage was born on July 22, 1995 in Atlanta, Georgia, United States, to Jonjelyn Savage and Timothy Savage.
She also has two older sisters named Jailyn Savage and Jori Savage. When she was 7 years old, she began singing in the church choir and at school events as a soloist. She attended public school but dropped out of college to pursue a singing career under the guidance of R. Kelly.
Joycelyn Savage then attended Georgia State University for a year before moving back home to attend Spelman College on a scholarship. She also had ambitions to become an entertainment lawyer before her relationship with R. Kelly.
