Frederick Leonard was born in Anambra State in eastern Nigeria.
He is the eldest son of his parents. He spent his early years in Alausa, Ikeja where he received his basic education. He was born on May 1, 1976 to parents from the South East, making him an Igbo ethnic group.

Frederick Leonard received his first primary education at St. Peter’s Anglican Primary School, Ikeja, Lagos State.
He then attended As Couture School in Nigeria before going to Oregun High School for his secondary education before heading to Kaduna State to study Biochemistry from which he has now graduated.

Frederick Leonard apparently began his acting career in 2001 with some brief scene roles before taking a break from acting as he was also pursuing his goal of completing his college education and obtaining a degree.
