Futuristic ‘Arabi’ music video causes legal storm over luxury Limo-Jet

A Minnesota company is suing rapper Future over the copyrighted Limo-Jet trademark used in a music video.

MIK Corporation is seeking unspecified damages – plus interest on all money the plaintiff paid to rent the Limo-Jet – from Future, Egyptian entertainer Mohammed, Ramadan and singer Lebanese-Canadian Sari Abboud for the unauthorized use of Limo-Jet in the music video for the song “Arab.”

The video was posted on YouTube in February 2024 and received 53 million views at the time.

MIK Corporation, owner of the Limo-Jet trademark, alleges in court documents obtained by AllHipHop that the artists filmed the vehicle without permission and violated a previous contract prohibiting the vehicle’s use in public events. their media project.

MIK rents a Limo-Jet, a one-off vehicle: this luxury limousine was built by reusing the fuselage of a jet.

This dispute dates back to April 2023, when Ramadan and his team first contacted MIK about the possible use of Limo-Jet for shows in California and Dubai.

MIK said the artists reserve the right to prohibit the release of any images or videos of the Limo-Jet without their prior written approval during a visit to the Des Plaines, Illinois, storage space nor cause any damage to it.

However, during this visit, MIK confirmed that the truck’s custom paint job was damaged by the vehicle.

The company claims it had no idea the “Arabi” music video – which features several scenes with a Limo-Jet – would come out.

The lawsuit against MIK involves allegations of breach of contract, negligence, fraud and misappropriation.

They wanted money for the negative charges from the illegal commercial Limo-Jet and claimed that the tank-protected vehicle was damaged.

UMG, Netflix’s co-defendant in the lawsuit, filed a motion to dismiss, arguing that it was not subject to personal jurisdiction in Illinois.

The court found that the relationship between UMG and the remaining defendants was too tenuous to maintain jurisdiction over UMG, but the court gave MIK the opportunity to consolidate its charges against UMG by December 15.

Wilburn Holding Co., which is affiliated with Future, remains part of the case, while MIK faces a legitimate question of the other defendants.

However, any claims related to Limo-Jet will be directed at Future and his company.
