In July 2013, Jesus began his club career with Palmeiras, signing a youth contract. He had an excellent season as the club’s top scorer, scoring 54 goals in 48 games. In January 2014, Jesus signed a three-year contract with Palmeiras that included additional years and a significant pay increase.
However, the deal changed the distribution of his economic privileges from mainly benefiting Palmeiras to now benefiting his agents.
