The Story of Julia Holcomb

Julia Holcomb met Steven Tyler at a concert in Portland, Oregon, shortly after her 16th birthday in November 1973. But it was tragedy after tragedy that struck her family, and one that she believes led her backstage at the Aerosmith concert. “My friendships changed from the kids we knew at church to the kids hanging out at the local youth center. Some of them were doing drugs and drinking,” she said.

A few months before meeting Steven, Julia had befriended a girl who would attend backstage parties at concerts. The 24-year-old girl, whom she barely knew at the time, brought about a major change in her life, “and our friendship was one of the most dangerous friendships I’ve ever formed.”

“She quickly taught me to dress revealingly to get attention and use sex as a hook to try to catch a rock star,” Julia shares. I still remember dressing up to go to an Aerosmith concert, intending to go backstage with her. I heard the song Dream On and saw Steven’s photo on the album cover, I went to the concert hoping to meet Steven and after the concert we met for the first time. At that time, I thought he was the best thing in my life. My sad, vulnerable story as well as my youth and personal appeal piqued his interest.”

Julia’s mother later signed over custody of her to Steven after she moved to Boston. She added, “I remember my surprise when Steven told me she had signed the papers and trying to process it in my head. A sense of vulnerability came over me, knowing that I was his ward, but we weren’t married. He hadn’t expressed any intention of a long-term relationship with me.”

Julia confronted Steven that her mother would never give him to her. He reportedly told her, “I told her I needed them for you to enroll in school.”

When they first started living together, she was on birth control pills. They planned to get pregnant. Julia described Steven this way: “He grew up in rural New Hampshire and sometimes he acted like a real farm boy. He wanted a family and he asked me if I wanted to have kids with him.”

Eventually, Steven’s sincerity moved her and she agreed to have the baby. Within a year, she was pregnant and told Steven and the singer was really happy about it and proposed to her. However, Steven’s parents did not agree with Steven marrying Julia because Julia was young and immature.

While Steven was traveling, Julia was in Boston “in an apartment with no money, no education, no prenatal care, no driver’s license, and little food.” Then a fire nearly took her life. It happened when she was five months pregnant in 1975. Her lungs were damaged by the fire, so Steven asked her to have an abortion.

“I couldn’t believe he was even asking me to have an abortion at this stage,” Julia explained. “It took him over an hour to force me to have an abortion. He said I was too young to have a baby and that it would be brain damaged because I had been in a fire and done drugs.”

Additionally, Julia is suing Aerosmith Frontman in 2022 for sexual assault, sexual battery, and intentional infliction of emotional distress. The lawsuit filed by Julia Misley was filed Tuesday under a 2019 California law that gives adult victims of child sexual assault a three-year period to file lawsuits for assaults that occurred decades ago. Saturday is the deadline to file such claims.

The lawsuit alleges Tyler “used his role, status and power as a famous musician and rock star to approach, groom, manipulate, exploit and sexually assault ” Misley over a three-year period. The lawsuit said some of the abuse occurred in Los Angeles County. As a result, she suffered serious mental injuries as well as economic losses, the lawsuit said.

Where is Julia Holcomb now?

Now, Julia Holcomb speaks like a Christian speaker. She is an influential voice in the anti-abortion movement. She even wrote a book about her interactions with Tyler, claiming that it was her faith in Jesus Christ that helped her overcome the pain she claimed to have experienced after an early abortion.

“Marriage and family are the foundation of every moral society,” she continued. “I pray that our nation can find its way back to God’s plan by respecting the lives of the unborn and strengthening the sanctity of marriage.”

Julia Holcomb And Steven Tyler Child

After arguing over the abortion, Steven Tyler knew he couldn’t change her mind. Abortion was a week away from being illegal. Then Steven said, “Okay, you can go to your mom’s house and have the baby there.”

Julia added: “I was exhausted and starting to feel hopeless. My mother and stepfather would not be happy if I came home pregnant. I believe they also wanted me to have an abortion. I started to feel like my life depended on me, I had no health insurance or money and didn’t believe Steven had any intention of helping provide for our child or me. He had given me no medical attention up to that point. I believe he is abandoning me like my parents did. I started crying and agreed to have an abortion. Steven felt relieved and happy. He reassured me that he cared about me and that after the abortion, everything would be okay.”

Julia and Steven’s child was never born because she went through this process. She said, “It was a terrible nightmare that I will never forget. I was traumatized by this experience. My child has only one protector in life; me, and I succumbed to the pressure out of fear of rejection and an unknown future. I wish I could go back and be given that chance again, to say no to an abortion one last time. I wish I could have watched that baby live his life and grow into a man.”

However, Julia believes that Steven was also traumatized by witnessing his firstborn son in such a direct and horrific way. He watched the baby come out and then told Julia that he was born alive and was allowed to die. Julia was not allowed to see the baby’s face.
