Early life
Goya Menor Bright was born into a Southern family of Mr. and Mrs. Menor on 4 May 1995. He is a native of Edo State in the South-South region of Nigeria. He was born and raised in Ekpoma city in Edo state.
He comes from a Christian background, which helped mold him into a man of strong morals and prevented him from joining gangs when he grew up, like many young men his age.
From an early age, Goya Menor developed a love for Nigeria’s rich musical atmosphere as he spent hours listening to songs by Nigerian artists on radio and TV. So he encountered the sounds of Hip-hop, Afrobeats, Afropop and R&B. He also listened to songs by American artists and this is where his love for rap developed.
Goya Menor has grown from rapping all the verses of his favorite rap songs to composing his own rap lyrics and performing them at school events as his schoolmates cheer him on that. Becoming a member of the church choir also improved his vocal abilities. So his parents were not surprised when he informed them that he planned to pursue a career in music professionally.

As a college student, Goya Menor developed his creativity by constantly tweaking his sounds while creating music. He is a notable figure in the university’s music community, as he has performed at almost every event on campus.
However, after graduating from university, he did not succeed as quickly as expected. Despite releasing a few songs, they did not do well in the music market. Despite his good reputation as an artist locally, Goya Menor was not satisfied and wished to achieve better results. So, he decided to move down to Lagos, the music capital of Africa, to boost his growth in the industry.
This was a right move for him as he soon came into contact with budding rapper, Erigga, and the duo recorded a rap song, Make I Yarn, in 2016. The single did well in sales. than Goya Menor’s previous songs.
While his career was still not as successful as he wanted, Goya Menor decided to try his hand at exaggeration and became an exaggeration artist. Before long, he became one of the most highly regarded hype artists in Lagos, as he performed in top clubs and lounges in the city.
However, he is still not committed to his dream of creating and releasing a chart-topping song. Luck finally smiled on him in 2021 when he teamed up with Ghanaian producer, Nektunez. He pitched the idea of recording a remix version of a popular club song, Ameno Amapiano, to another artist, who also bought it immediately. While Nektunez handled production, Goya Menor wrote the rap lyrics and recorded the single in June 2021.
The single did not become an instant hit and it took months of promotion before it became the song of choice in clubs and parties. In just a few weeks, Ameno Amapiano has shot to the top of several music charts as millions of people stream non-stop.
The song became the world’s most Shazamed song in December 2021 and climbed to number one on Apple’s Top 100 Songs. Due to the single’s virality, it has been used as background music for several TikTok, Facebook and Instagram videos, including being used on the Champions League’s official TikTok Page. Many social media content creators created content based on the song’s theme.

For being one of the faces behind a highly successful song, Goya Menor has received several collaboration requests from A-list and rising music artists in Africa. The rapper recently teamed up with local rapper and music star, Zlatan Ibile to record a soon-to-be-released smash hit.
