How Liam and Noel Gallagher’s secret meeting sealed the deal

Oasis have announced that the band will reunite to tour the UK and Ireland next year.

The British rock band confirmed the reunion in a joint statement released via the group’s official account on X, formerly Twitter, on Monday.

“The guns have fallen silent. The stars have aligned. The great wait is over. Come see it. It will not be televised,” the statement said. read.

A press release outlined why Liam and Noel Gallagher decided to perform again, stating, “There was no big revelation moment that prompted the reunion — just a gradual realisation that the time was right.”

No plans for new music have been announced.

In 2009, the long-standing conflict between the brothers came to a head when a backstage brawl broke out at the Rock en Seine festival in Paris, forcing Noel to leave the band.

Fifteen years later, Liam and Noel have been meeting in secret to plan the much-anticipated Oasis reunion, The US Sun reports.

Those present at the meeting were required to sign a confidentiality agreement to ensure no details were leaked before they were ready to be released.

According to sources, Noel and Liam recently met up for a photoshoot for a promotional poster for their reunion tour.

“It’s been a tough time for Noel and Liam together,” an unnamed insider told the paper.

“The photoshoot was kept top secret and hardly anyone knew about it. For fans, seeing them together again would be a great sight, the atmosphere in the room was so vibrant, it was exciting,” they added.

“Once the announcement is made and fans rush to buy tickets, the hard work will begin as they prepare to perform together again,” the insider concluded.

During his main performance, Liam dedicated the song “Half the World Away” to his brother Noel.

“I want to dedicate this song to Noel f*****g Gallagher,” the 51-year-old musician told the crowd.

He also surprised fans by dedicating his performance of “Cigarettes & Alcohol” to those who might not be Oasis fans. The song, written by his brother, was used as the closing track on their first album.

At the end of the show, Liam revealed that a special announcement was scheduled for Tuesday morning at 8am.

A short video featuring imagery reminiscent of the Oasis logo was shown on a large screen above the stage, and was quickly posted to Oasis, Noel and Liam’s Instagram and X accounts.

In the middle of a white rectangular box there is a black block showing the date “27.08.24” where the band name would normally be. Suddenly the screen flashes and switches to show the time “8am”

Oasis have reportedly received an offer worth up to $66 million to reunite for a tour, according to the Daily Mail.

This big money seems to have convinced Noel and Liam to perform together again, a decade and a half after their last joint performance.

Oasis will tour next year with 14 shows in the UK and Ireland before potentially heading to other countries.
