The villagers explained that the Forsaken and the Nightthorn were caused by a dark creature known as the Forsaken.

As the player is about to restore the last pillar, the Forsaken, being the player’s inner child, corrupted by negative emotions, attempts to use the orb to destroy the valley. Players follow them, talk, and help the Forsaken remember the happier times and stop the rift from destroying everything.
