Adele fans will have to wait a long time to see the 36-year-old perform again. After finishing her stay in Munich, Germany on August 31, Adele became emotional and told the audience that she would be taking a long break.

In videos posted on social media, Adele told fans they wouldn’t see her for “a very long time” after she wrapped up her tour in Las Vegas, which was postponed earlier this year. Her last scheduled show was on November 23.

“I’m not the most comfortable performer, I know that, but I’m very good at it,” she said. “And I’ve really enjoyed performing for almost three years now, which is the longest I’ve ever done and probably the longest I’ll ever do. I still have exactly five weeks of performances left. But then I won’t see you for an incredibly long time. And I’ll keep you in my heart during that break. And I’ll dream about these shows and every show I’ve done in the last three years.”

The GRAMMY-winning star said she needed a break and planned to focus more on her personal life. Last month, she appeared to confirm her engagement to longtime partner, sports agent and Klutch Sports Group founder and CEO Rich Paul, whom she has been dating since 2021. She also has an 11-year-old son named Angelo with ex-husband Simon Konecki.

“It was amazing. I just needed a break,” she noted of the performance as the crowd cheered her on. “I spent the last seven years building a new life for myself, and I want to live that life now.”

This isn’t the first time Adele has expressed her desire to take a break from her music career. In July, she told German broadcaster ZDF, via Variety, that she wasn’t working on any new music.

“I don’t have any plans for new music,” Adele said. “I want to take a big break after that and I think I want to do other creative things, just for a little while.”
