On the September 4 episode of his podcast “Call Her Daddy”, Alex Cooper addressed the backlash Perry faced for collaborating with Łukasz “Dr. Luke” Sebastian Gottwald for her highly anticipated album, “143”.

In response, the “Thinking of You” hitmaker acknowledged the criticism her choice has sparked, further explaining that Dr. Luke was just one of many associates who played a role in pushing for her change.
They have previously collaborated on several of her hit songs, such as “I Kissed a Girl”, “California Gurls” and “Teenage Dream”.
The discussion comes amid Kesha suing Dr. Luke, accusing him of sexual, physical and emotional abuse, while Kesha vehemently denies all allegations and files a countersuit for defamation.
Perry told Cooper, “I understand that it opened up a lot of conversations and he’s one of many associates that I’ve worked with. But the reality is, it came from me.”
“The truth is, I wrote these songs from my whole life’s experience of going through this transformation, and he was one of the people who helped facilitate all of that. One of the songwriters, one of the producers. I’m speaking from my own experience.”

Shifting the discussion, Perry turned the conversation to “Woman’s World,” the standout track from her latest album. Perry revealed the lead single was an inspirational song in previous interviews.
“When I talk about ‘A Woman’s World,’ I talk about how empowered I feel now, as a mother, as a woman, to give birth, to create life, to create another set of organs. A brain! A heart! I created a whole heart! And I did it, and I’m still doing it.”
“I’m still a mom and I feel really connected to that, that’s where I’m coming from. So I created all of this with a few different collaborators, people I’ve worked with in the past, going back to Teenage Dream. All of that.”

However, many fans were not satisfied with Perry’s answer to this question.
“The responses to Dr. Luke’s questions were vague, never directly answered, and only revolved around her – without any accountability or acknowledgement of the contradiction that a song about female empowerment was written by an accused sex offender… whose reputation is even greater than his own,” one Redditor wrote.
Another wrote, “I used to be a huge Katy Perry fan but lately she’s been acting like a total dick and someone who spends more time seeking validation than uplifting others. She’s the complete opposite.”

Perry has also been criticized for promoting what they say is a scripted depiction of “motherhood”.
X user @moldetorta said, “you are a mother working with a predator, katy perry.”
@RHOHalifax also said, “I can’t even get through this clip. @katyperry mentioned that she’s a woman and a mother and still works with a known predator? God help her daughter stay away from people like Dr. Luke.”
@lethallyfab wrote, “So the excuse for collaborating with an alleged rapist for a failed single that Katy Perry tried to spin in her ‘Call Her Daddy’ interview is… she’s a mom now? And somehow that makes her magically immune to criticism? Is that what we’re getting at?”
@lustforlifestan suggested, “Just say you don’t support abused women Katy.”
