‘It’s not the right time’

Fans hoping to hear Liam Payne’s posthumous music will have to wait a little longer.

In a statement to X, the song’s collaborator, Sam Pounds, announced that their song “Do No Wrong” has been put on hold.

“Today I decided to organize ‘Not Wrong’ and leave those freedoms to all family members. I want all proceeds to go to the charity of their choice (or however they wish),” he began.

Pounds went on to say that it’s not yet time to release the song and that he wants the family to have time to mourn.

“Even though we all love the song, it’s not the right time yet. We’re all still mourning Liam’s passing and I wish the family a peaceful and prayerful morning. We’ll all wait.” wait. With love Sam Pounds,” he concluded.

It was previously announced that the song would be released on November 1 and that it would be the first release after Payne’s death on October 16 when he fell from a third-floor balcony at the CasaSur hotel Palermo in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Payne ultimately died from injuries that included internal and external bleeding from the fall.

In a since-deleted tweet, Pounds spoke about the song and sent his condolences to the family.

“I pray that this will be a blessing to the world like Liam always dreamed of. I pray the angels will comfort you every day as you listen. I pray that this song will be a blessing for Ruth, [his son] Bear and the whole family,” he said through Billboard.

“I pray that this song will overshadow the negative buzz. I pray the supernatural positive healing power will embrace each of you,” he continued.

The release announcement included a video clip from a recent recording session, shared by Payne’s sister, Ruth Gibbons, that captured the two musicians listening to the song together. Furthermore, the shared clip shows Pounds and Payne discussing possible collaborations, hinting that it could be highly prestigious. Despite this, it was never announced to have a feature.
