Before his NBA career, Smith played one season of college basketball at Auburn University, where he was a standout player.
During his freshman year at Auburn, Smith averaged 16.9 points, 7.4 rebounds and two assists per game, helping lead the Tigers to the SEC regular season championship and ranked The show’s first No. 1 ranking in the AP poll.
In his NCAA Tournament debut against Jacksonville State, Smith recorded his sixth triple-double of the season, scoring 20 points and grabbing 14 rebounds.
