Jamie Lee Curtis has broken his silence on the November 5 election.

Taking to her Instagram on November 6, the actress shared a lengthy statement about the election results, specifically Donald Trump’s victory over Kamala Harris to become the 47th president of the United States.

In her post, she said that Trump’s victory “means the inevitable return to a more draconian, more restrictive, scarier era.”

“Many people fear their rights will be hindered and denied,” she wrote. “Many minorities and young people will be afraid. Gay and transgender people will be more afraid. We know that many women will now have difficulty getting the reproductive health care they need.” need and deserve. For everyone there will be someone who will help you including me.”

In the next paragraph, she called on her fellow Americans to “wake up and fight” in the face of “tyranny.”

“But what it really means is that we wake up and fight. Fight for women, children and their futures and fight against tyranny, one day at a time. One fight at a time. One fight at a time.” protest at a time. That’s what it means.” being an American is something that has and will always be meaningful regardless of the outcome,” Curtis continued.

Above all, she advises people to be gentle with themselves.

“Be gentle with everyone today. Be gentle with yourself today. Feel your emotions today but most of all… Be an American today,” she concluded.
