Janet Jackson commits to Las Vegas residency after turning down London show

Janet Jackson will return to Las Vegas to headline a series of shows at Resorts World later this year.

The singer’s manager, Mo Elmasri, confirmed the news in a statement to the Daily Mail, hinting that Jackson’s stay will begin during the holiday season.

“We are excited to announce Janet’s upcoming residency at Resorts World Las Vegas,” said Elmasri.

“This collaboration provides a unique opportunity to honor her legacy and deliver unforgettable performances,” the statement continued. “The energy and excitement of Las Vegas, especially during the holiday season, makes it the perfect setting for this new chapter.”

Elmasri added that Jackson was “excited to connect with fans and bring her iconic music to life in a fresh and dynamic way”.

The 58-year-old singer-dancer last performed in Sin City in her show “Metamorphosis” at the Park MGM in 2019.

According to the source, Jackson turned down the opportunity to stay in London in favor of a more lucrative contract in Las Vegas.

The “That’s the Way Love Goes” singer is likely to perform an exclusive New Year’s Eve show at Resorts World Las Vegas, according to an unnamed source told the Daily Mail.

Jackson recently performed 35 successful shows, just concluding his “Together Again Tour”.

Meanwhile, in a recent interview, Jackson shared insights into her musical inspirations, deliberately omitting any mention of significant family influence.

“I had to rule out family because obviously they told me first, when they saw my siblings, my cousins. [Stevie Wonder] — watching him perform was a huge inspiration,” Jackson said on “Heart Evenings with Dev Griffin.”

The “Call on Me” hitmaker looked back fondly on the times she and her famous Jackson Five brothers attended live music performances. One particular Earth, Wind and Fire concert really stood out and left a lasting impression on Jackson.

“My brothers used to take me with them when they went to concerts, and I remember seeing Earth, Wind and Fire as a kid — it was just unforgettable,” said Michael Jackson’s sister. “I’ll never forget it. It really blew my mind, the musical talent, and then the whole production. I absolutely loved it.”
