Jelly Roll has been open about his dark past and uses his story to inspire others to live a better life. More recently, the musician jokingly called himself “the worst criminal ever” after being arrested multiple times and failing to escape the authorities.

Country music singer appears The Howard Stern Show on SiriusXM for an interview where the host told him he must be “the worst drug dealer” after being arrested 47 times.

“Too bad… I’m the worst criminal ever,” he joked.

He went on to recall the story of how he was arrested when he was 15 years old, saying he was in a Xanax bar when the police caught him.
“You know how Xanax slows you down a little bit? And in my mind, when the police pulled us over, I was like, ‘I’m just going to run.’ So I opened the door and in my mind, I jumped out and ran quickly across the field and almost got there,” he said.
He then noted that he was too fat and “Xanaxed out” and could only take two steps.

The musician laughed as he continued the story, adding that the police officer just stood there watching him fall. He then lay on top of him, but the police felt bad and did not charge him for trying to run away.
Jelly Roll has many stories about his tragic past, as at one point in his life, he was in and out of juvenile detention at the age of 14.

Before his hometown concert at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, TN, he visited the center where he spent 18 months talking to teenagers who were in the same situation he was in when he was young.
He revealed that his time there inspired him to pursue rap music.
“I love all music as a listener, but I don’t think I can sing, but there’s something about rap rhythms and poetry that I understand,” he said.
Luckily, Jelly Roll was able to turn his life around when he got out of his dark path and pursued music. He also became an inspiration for people who are facing difficulties in life.
