Jelly Roll will be harder to contact next year.
On the December 16 episode of his wife Bunnie Xo’s podcast Dumb blondeThe singer talks about managing the stress of being famous and why it forced him to take a break from his phone.
“This may not be a healthy approach, but I can confidently tell people that I won’t have a phone anymore. [2025]”, he told his wife.
Jelly Roll then shared the shocking thing he did to stay away from his phone.
“I’ve been talking about this in interviews all year. I thought, if this [Beautifully Broken Tour] the way I want it, I’ll throw my phone off the Shelby Street bridge,” he added.
On one particular night, Jelly Roll decided to ask a driver to take him to the Cumberland River, where he threw away his phone.
“I got to the point where I was getting hundreds of messages a day,” Jelly said of his motivation. And I was really overwhelmed.” “And when I finally sat down to review them, I would feel terrible for missing them. I carried a lot of guilt. This phone made me so guilty.”
Bunnie made it clear that this wasn’t the first time her husband had left his phone in the past. She said he had thrown away his cell phone a while back and that people would have to contact her to contact Jelly Roll.
“I’ve had the same number for almost a decade. My husband has had about 17,” she said.
Jelly then said he will use “a flip phone next year” and added: “It’s good for my health. I will use my phone as a way to [dissociate] that’s OK.”
“I’ll miss text messages and know there’s so many that checking is too stressful. So I’ll avoid that by mindlessly scrolling or, you know, I have these announcing this news on my phone, and then we became big news stories all the time, like I started getting caught up in it,” he said.
Jelly Roll concluded by saying that he wanted to be a better person and that his phone may have prevented him from being a better person.
“I want to be a better husband. I want to be a better father. I want to be a better person. I want to be a better artist. I realized that the phone doesn’t help I become whatever I really want to be,” he shared. .
Jelly Roll has been busy working on herself over the past year and has so far lost 120 pounds. His goal is to be on the cover of a magazine Men’s health until March 2026.
