Early life and education
Jennifer Lynn Farley, better known by her stage name JWoww, was born on February 27, 1986 in Franklin Square, New York City, United States.
She had a challenging childhood, and much of her early years were spent without her mother. Her mother struggled with severe mental illness. Since her parents did not live together, her father, Terry Farley, raised Jenni Farley primarily. She reportedly told her father that she would not mind if her mother divorced. Soon after, her parents divorced as well. Computers were just beginning to take over our daily lives while she was growing up.
The idea of working in the computer field appealed to her. She soon became interested in graphic design. Jenni Farley attended the New York Institute of Technology after graduating from Columbia High School, where she completed her high school education. She had to work as a nanny in college to pay her bills.
She lost interest in graphic design by the time she was in her senior year of college. To stay safe, Jenni Farley started her own graphic design company, which continues to be her primary source of income.
Career
In 2009, during her senior year of college, Jenni Farley won a spot on MTV’s hit reality show Jersey Shore. She accepted the offer because she was no longer interested in graphic design. She participated in the show’s first season in the US as one of eight contestants. She became a crowd favorite throughout the competition. She was overconfident and spoke out against injustice.
The eight contestants spent time together at home in Seaside Heights, New Jersey, as part of the show’s structure. Her popularity grew as she continued to appear in later seasons of the show. Subsequent seasons saw the show move from New Jersey to Florida and eventually Italy.
The show eventually became one of the most watched reality shows on American television. Due to her growing popularity, other reality TV producers began to contact her. By that time, Jenni Farley had developed into the ultimate reality TV diva. She was nicknamed JWoww during the show’s first season because the male contestants claimed that whenever she entered the room, they couldn’t help but scream J wow.
She appeared for the second time on another MTV reality show, Snooki & Jwoww. Snooki (Nicole Polizzi), her former housemate from Jersey Shore, also appeared on the spin-off series. The show’s structure was modeled after Laverne & Shirley (Laverne DeFazio and Shirley Feeney), and it became one of MTV’s most popular reality shows of the year. Jenni Farley launched her official website in 2011. She made her acting debut in the 2012 comedy The Three Stooges; it was a slapstick comedy in which she had a small role.
The film was a critical and commercial success. JWoww also launched her own clothing line, Filthy Couture, which she exhibited in an exhibition in Las Vegas. But it was ultimately a major failure. The line was shut down after four years. But instead of being discouraged by that, she insisted that she would come back with another clothing line one day.
Based on her experiences working on the Jersey Shore set, Jenni Farley published her first book, The Rules According to JWOWW: Shore-Tested Secrets on Landing a Mint Guy, Staying Fresh to Death, and Kicking the Competition to the Curb, in 2010.
She played Nikki on the soap opera One Life to Live. In 2013, she joined Snooki and Jeff Dye as a host on MTV’s Club.
She was named one of the “100 Sexiest Women of the 21st Century” by GQ magazine in January 2013, at the height of her fame. She appeared in Marriage Boot Camp: Reality Stars in 2014 as one of the main cast members. Jenni Farley appeared in a new reality show in 2015 called Worst Cooks in America: Celebrity Edition, which was very different from anything she had ever been on. She ended up winning the award.
She also launched her filmmaking career with the 2015 indie comedy The Mint, which also starred Jenni Farley. The film was a box office success and received above-average reviews.
Personal life
In October 2015, Jenni Farley married Roger Mathews, her longtime partner. They have two young children: Meilani Alexandra Mathews and Greyson Valor Mathews.

In a recent interview, Jenni Farley admitted that she felt bad about treating her mother badly because she was dealing with mental health issues.
She dated Tom Lippolis (2009-2010) and was also rumored to have dated DJ Pauly D in 2009. Jenni Farley was engaged to Zack Clayton after her divorce from Roger Mathews (2015-2019).
