Who are Jonah Hauer-King’s parents?

Jonah Hauer-King was born to parents Jeremy King and Debra Hauer. They have been his biggest supporters and fans since day one. In fact, it was his mother Debra who inspired him to enter the entertainment industry.

“I owe her a lot of my love for the stage. [his mother],” Jonah said in October 2016. “She always took me to the theater and exposed me to the theater world quite a bit. Even though I grew up on the stage, I never really admitted to myself that I wanted to act until my mid-teens.”

However, while Jonah’s parents influenced him to pursue acting, they also said that the industry has a lot of “uncertainty” and “instability.” So he took his time to make a decision before entering the entertainment world.

Jonah made his debut in the 2017 British drama film, The Last Photograph. Although he had starred in productions such as Punk Rock at the Lyric Theatre in 2014 and Equus in 2015, The Last Photograph gave him the big break he had been looking for. In 2018, he then starred in three films, Postcards from London, Ashes in the Snow and Old Boys, and made his Hollywood debut with a leading role in the 2019 heartwarming film, A Dog’s Way Home.

He is currently playing Prince Eric in the remake of The Little Mermaid, and is also working on his next project, World on Fire. In the latter show, he plays a dirty pilot named Harry in the Royal Air Force (RAF) during World War II.

Debra Hauer is Jonah Hauer-King’s mother, who influenced him to become an actor. She was born to Polish Jewish parents who fled to America in the 1930s. For this reason, Jonah has always been fascinated by “how war affects a person’s identity.”

Her parents were Samuel David Hauer (a surgeon who served in the Royal Canadian Air Force during World War II) and Mildred Harris.
