Jessica Simpson has confirmed that she and Eric Johnson, her husband of 10 years, are deciding to split.
The couple has been together for a total of 14 years.
In a statement to Entertainment Tonight, Simpson said: “Eric and I have been living separately to resolve a painful situation in our marriage.”
The former couple has three children: Maxwell Drew (born May 2012), Ace Knute (born June 2013), and Birdie Mae Johnson (born March 2019).
“Our children come first and we are focused on what is best for them,” Simpson said. “We are grateful for all the love and support that has come our way, and appreciate the privacy right now as we work through this together as a family.”
Rumors had been circulating for months that the marriage was heading towards divorce. Last November, a source told Us Weekly that the couple was “trying to find a way to separate without affecting the children’s lives as much as possible.”
The “These Boots Are Made for Walking” singer began dating the former NFL player in 2010. They married in Montecito in 2014.
