Justin Bieber continues to unfollow people who were close to him in the past.
In his latest round of unfollows, Bieber unfollowed his former mentor, Usher, on Instagram. When typing Usher’s name into the search bar under people Bieber follows, nothing came up.
This is not the first time Bieber has unfollowed someone who was once close to him. The “Ghost” singer unfollowed his former longtime manager, Scooter Braun, earlier this month. After Bieber unfollowed him, Braun deactivated his Instagram account.
The two had previously been together for 15 years. During that time, Braun worked as Bieber’s manager and helped take him from YouTube celebrity to music star. However, they broke up in 2023 when Bieber managed to escape his contact, Billboard report.
Many of Braun’s other clients also left him, with Ariana Grande and Demi Lovato following suit. After many customers left, he announced that he would no longer manage customers.
“One of my biggest clients and friends told me they wanted to spread their wings and go in a new direction. We have been through a lot together over the past decade, but instead of being hurt, I took it as a sign,” he said. talk through NME.
Similar to Usher, Bieber has known him for most of his life and from the very beginning of his career. The couple first met in 2008 when Bieber was 13 years old. Although Usher wasn’t initially sold on Bieber, he reached a deal with Braun to help manage the budding singer.
Usher said before Everybody that he forged a friendship with Braun and a bidding war ensued between him and Justin Timberlake over signing Bieber.
“We’ve built a friendship, but this is obviously going to create a long-term partnership between us and it’s like a bidding war between me and Justin Timberlake,” he said.
“I’m like, I’m not sure I can understand every single producer that this artist could benefit from, but what I can tell you is I’m going to give you my passion and I’m going to give you everything I have to offer,” Usher continued.
Throughout their careers, Bieber and Usher have collaborated on many songs together. Usher appeared on Bieber’s song “First Dance” as well as “Somebody to Love”. More recently, Usher was featured on the remix of Bieber’s chart-topping single “Peaches” from 2021.
Before their collaboration, Usher shared that he “wanted to record with Justin.”
“I’m motivated by people like Justin. I think he’s a great performer and I think he has a legacy that deserves to be respected and not compared to anyone else. He He should be recognized for who he is and what his contributions are.” was,” Usher added.
