As a result, he was then loaned to Vitória Guimarães in Portugal for the 2020–21 season. After completing his loan spell abroad, João Pedro returned to Brazil and joined Goiás for the 2022 season.
Following his transfer in July 2023, João Pedro officially joined Premier League club Brighton & Hove Albion for a transfer fee of £30 million. Making his highly-anticipated debut just a month later, on 6 August, he came on as a substitute in an exciting match against West Ham United, which resulted in an impressive 2-0 win for Brighton & Hove Albion.
In addition to his club career, João Pedro also had the opportunity to represent Brazil at youth level. The national team recognized his talent and skills, leading to his senior international debut in November 2023.
