John Adams Morgan was born on September 17, 1930, in Oyster Bay, New York, United States. He was born and raised by his parents, Henry Sturgis Morgan and Catherine Frances Lovering Adams. It is not known in the media whether he has any siblings.
John attended Groton School and graduated in 1949. He then attended Yale University and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1953. Ethnically, John Adams Morgan is white and Christian.
Career
John Adams Morgan began his career in 1956 as a partner at the investment firm Dominick & Dominick after graduating from Yale. He then joined Smith Barney (now Morgan Stanley Wealth Management) in 1966, where he rose to senior vice president of corporate finance and vice president overseeing mergers and acquisitions.
In 1982, Morgan founded his own retail and brokerage firm, Morgan Lewis Githens & Ahn, Inc. The firm engaged in a variety of corporate activities, including a leveraged buyout with Olin Corporation and acquisitions such as Service America Corp.
In addition to his business ventures, Morgan was a crew member on the yacht Llanoria at the 1952 Summer Olympics, participating in all but one race.
He also serves on the boards of several companies, including Upham & Co., TriMas Corporation, Metaldyne Corporation, Furnishings International Inc., and Provident Loan Society of New York. He is also a director of the Morgan Library & Museum, a cultural institution founded by his grandfather.
