Jordan Robert Romano is a highly skilled and accomplished Canadian athlete who was born in Markham, Ontario, Canada on April 21, 1993. His parents, Cynthia Romano and Joe Romano, loved him and took great care of him during his upbringing.
Jordan grew up with his older brother Chris and his two younger sisters Julia and Cassandra during his childhood and adolescence. Jordan attended Father Michael McGivney Catholic Academy High School during his schooling.
Profession
Romano excelled in multiple sports including baseball, basketball, football and volleyball. Despite not being drafted directly out of high school, he decided to continue his education at Connors State College in Oklahoma. In his first season at Connors State, Romano went 0-1 with an 8.68 ERA and 14 strikeouts in 91 total innings pitched.
Romano transferred to Houston Baptist University after completing his freshman year at Connors State University. While at Houston Baptist University, he showed off his excellent skills on the field, going 14-5 with a 3.75 ERA and striking out an incredible 204 batters in just 174 innings.
Due to his outstanding performance, Romano caught the attention of the Toronto Blue Jays, who selected him in the tenth round of the 2014 MLB draft. The Blue Jays were eager to acquire Romano’s talent and offered him a signing bonus of $25,000, which he gladly accepted.
In the 2014 season, Romano played for the Gulf Coast Blue Jays of the Rookie Appalachian League and the Bluefield Blue Jays of the Rookie Advanced Appalachian League. He had a 1-1 record in 13 games with an ERA of 1.93. In addition, Romano struck out 34 batters in 28 innings.
Romano suffered a severe injury to his ulnar collateral ligament during spring training in 2015 and had to undergo Tommy John surgery, which sidelined him for the entire season. However, he returned in 2016 and rejoined the Blue Jays.
