Early life and education

- Commander of the Rapid Response Team (RRS) in Lagos.
- Squadron Commander of the Mobile Police Force Anti-Fraud Unit (MOPOL) in the FCT Command, Abuja.
- Area Commander in Osun and Zamfara State Command.
On June 19, 2023, President Tinubu appointed Egbetokun as Inspector General of Police, succeeding Usman Alkali Baba. Prior to his appointment, he was the Deputy Inspector General of Police and DIG Surveillance for the South West geopolitical zone, overseeing the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) at the Force Headquarters in Abuja since 6 May April 2023.
