Liles was born in Baltimore, Maryland on February 27, 1968. He attended Woodlawn High School and was raised by his mother and stepfather and grew up with his three siblings. He graduated Morgan State University with a degree in engineering and won a scholarship from NASA but dropped out to pursue a music career.
Career
Liles began his music career by joining the Baltimore-based DJ group Numarx. They wrote and sang the single ‘Girl You Know It’s True’, which was later covered by Milli Vanilli.
The song became a multi-platinum and award-winning single. Liles considered this his first step into the music industry. Liles decided to start his own record label called ‘Marx Bros’, which released several of Numarx’s hits.
The label has endorsed artists such as Salt ‘N Pepa, LL Cool J, Run DMC, and many other famous artists. Liles was not completely satisfied with the progress because he wanted to do more.
