Kim Porter once revealed that Sean “Diddy” Combs often kept in touch with her when he dated Jennifer Lopez. The couple began dating before Combs’ high-profile relationship with Lopez ended in 2001. Porter alleges that even after they broke up, Diddy continued to pursue her.
In an interview with Essence, Porter went on to detail how they changed the locks on their house after ending their relationship.
“I told him someone had to go, and it wasn’t going to be me and these kids,” she said.
But even as she tried to shake it off, Diddy reportedly called her 50 to 60 times a day.
“Sometimes I don’t even talk to him because I’m so angry,” Porter explains. “I can’t be ‘Nice Kim’. You know, I have to be like, this is not going down.”
Porter claims Diddy often stopped by her house unannounced and “disregarded” their established visitation schedule for the children.
“It’s like my life is not my own,” she said. “He was very, very intrusive.”
After Diddy got in trouble for the 2001 nightclub shooting, Porter eventually reconciled with him. Diddy frequently visited her in Georgia after he was cleared.
Reflecting on their relationship, Porter described Diddy as “gentle, giving and sensitive.” Although his darker actions and tendencies are a cause of regret for her, she is also grateful that he is “really a good guy, with a big heart.”
While Diddy recounted how he moved toward Lopez while still with Porter, he said their relationship was difficult and he sought solace outside of it.
“It wasn’t a blowout, I just woke up one morning and started texting Jennifer and dumped Kim,” he added.
Although Diddy at first loved Lopez for the aggression that Porter lacked, he later realized that he missed Porter’s calmness.
Despite the couple’s history, Diddy is notoriously private about his relationships and his love life continues to be a hot topic for the public amid his current scandal.
