Albertus Stephanus “Kwagga” Smith (born 11 June 1993) is a South African rugby union player who plays for the South Africa national team. He has played for the Lions in Super Rugby and Yamaha Júbilo in the Japanese Rugby Top League.

He usually plays as a winger for his team. Kwagga Smith was a member of the South African Sevens team. He and his team won a bronze medal at the 2016 Summer Olympics.

Career

Kwagga Smith played in his school’s rugby league matches for HTS Middelburg in Mpumalanga. After coming out he played in his school’s rugby competition, he was included in the Pumas U-18 team that played in the Craven Week competitions in 2010 and 2011.

After graduating from high school, he moved to Johannesburg. He then joined the Golden Lions in 2014. He played nine games for the Golden Lions under-19 competition.

In the 2012 Provincial U-19 Championship, he made a significant impact on his team in the competition by scoring four touchdowns. During his time at the Golden Lions, he made 34 appearances and scored 105 points for the team.

Kwagga Smith was selected to play in the South African U-20 rugby competition at the 2013 IRB Junior World Championship in France. His only appearance in the group stage was as a substitute in a 97–0 win over the United States.
