Will the previous epoch be erased?
In Last Epoch, developer Eleventh Hour Games took to its official Discord server to answer a question about whether save wipes will happen after the Early Access phase. They assure players that saves will not be deleted once the game is fully released.

Currently, save files created during Early Access are marked “Offline Only.” This means players will be able to keep and continue using their characters from Early Access. However, it’s worth noting that these “offline-only” characters will not be trusted in online multiplayer once Last Epoch fully releases.
While the specifics of what players will be able to do with Early Access characters in online multiplayer once the full version is released have yet to be made clear, the guarantee that saves will not be wiped provides comfort to those who invested the time and effort in Early Access .
Future plans for the past era
Future plans for Last Epoch bring exciting developments for Early Access players. The developers hinted at a potential “Legacy” format that would allow players to engage in custom battles with their “Legacy” characters. This opens up new possibilities for personalized gaming experiences.

Additionally, Last Epoch will implement “loops,” similar to seasons in other games. Starting with version 1.0, all characters will be stored server-side, preventing players from editing save files and engaging in exploits or bug abuse. This server-side approach ensures a fair and safe gaming experience for all participants.
At the end of each “cycle” or season, characters from the current season will transition to legacy classes along with other Early Access characters. This structured system is designed to maintain a balanced and enjoyable gaming environment, providing smooth transitions for players. Players are eager to see how these planned features will shape the game once they are officially released.
