Taylor Sele will play Jacque in Netflix’s upcoming show Survival of the fittestCreated by comedian Michelle Buteau and writer-producer Danielle Sanchez-Witzel (New Girl), the show is based on Buteau’s book of the same name.

The show’s synopsis reads, “Mavis, a Manhattan fashion stylist assistant, aspires to become a head stylist—and her hot photographer boyfriend, Jacque, is supportive every step of the way. He even helps her secure an interview at Essence. But despite all his declarations of love and devotion, Mavis later finds him in bed with another woman.”

It continues, “So she moves out of their luxurious Manhattan apartment and into a cramped Brooklyn apartment with a quirky roommate. It’s tough—and being a single thirtysomething can be awkward—but Mavis is determined to enjoy her life and make waves in the fashion industry—even without Jacque’s support. Luckily, her best friends Khalil and Marley are there every step of the way to encourage her to be her best self…or let her know when she’s completely out of control.”

The show comes from A24. On January 24, Deadline reported that Netflix had given Survival of the fittest a series starring Buteau. The show will premiere on July 13, 2023.
