In 2001, Leo Stan Ekeh came up with the idea of starting a computer manufacturing company, thus founding Zinox Technologies Limited. In a remarkable feat, the company’s launch was marked by the achievement of WHQL certification, becoming the first of its kind in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Zinox continues to grow, achieving new milestones along the way, including achieving NIS ISO 2000:9001 QMS certification five years after its inception. In 2013, Leo Stan Ekeh’s Zinox company took the tech world by storm when it launched the Zipad tablet line, which quickly received critical acclaim and set a new standard for innovative design in the Nigerian tech industry.
In February 2018, Zinox made another groundbreaking move by acquiring 99% of the total shares of Konga.com from its former owners, cementing its position as a major player in the Nigerian e-commerce sector.
However, in a surprising turn of events, the Federal Government of Nigeria charged Leo Stan Ekeh, his wife Chioma Ekeh and 11 other suspects with 17 counts of contract fraud involving 170.3 million naira on September 9, 2022. The charges, filed on behalf of Attorney General Abubakar Malami, sent shockwaves throughout the country’s tech industry. The outcome of the trial remains uncertain, but it is clear that the charges have had a significant impact on the business tycoon’s reputation and standing in the community.
