Ronald William Howard (born 1 March 1954), also known as Ron Howard, is a famous actor, director and screenwriter. He gained international recognition for his roles in the American sitcoms The Andy Griffith Show and Happy Days.
He made his film debut at the tender age of 18 months and has been wowing audiences ever since. He didn’t need much guidance as he was born into a theatre family, with both his parents being actors.

Early life and education
Ronald William Howard was born on March 1, 1954 in Duncan, Oklahoma, USA. His father, Rance Howard, is a writer, actor and director; his mother, Gene Spiegel Howard, is an actress.
In 1958, he moved to Hollywood with his parents, and his brother Clint Howard was born the following year. Three years later, the Howard family finally settled in Burbank.
He attended John Burroughs High School and received tutoring at Desilu Studios (now known as The Culver Studios).
After graduating from high school, Ron Howard entered the University of Southern California School of Cinematic Arts, but was unable to complete his studies due to the success of his acting career.

In 1956, Ron Howard made his film debut in the movie Frontier Women at the age of 18 months. At the age of two, he had his first dramatic role in The Seven Year Itch. In 1959, he played Billy Lineland in the movie The Journey. With his sincere performance, he played the role of Stuart in the first season of the sitcom Dennis the Naughty. In addition, he appeared in the TV series The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis.
Around the same time, he landed a role in Playhouse 90. Sheldon Leonard, producer of The Andy Griffith Show, was impressed by his performance. Ron Howard was hired to play the title character’s son, Ronnie Griffith. In 1962, he appeared in The Music Man and the following year in the film The Courtship of Eddie’s Father. Between 1965 and 1969, he had many cameo roles in films such as I Spy and Daniel Boone.
As a teenager, Ron Howard worked closely with Disney. He was hired to play the lead role of Mike in the Disneyland album “Stories and Songs from the Haunted Mansion” narrated by Thul Ravenscroft. He played a role in George Luca’s 1973 film “American Graffiti”. He played the lead role of Steve Bolland in the film along with Richard Dreyfuss and other actors.
The following year, Ron Howard starred in the ABC comedy “Happy Days”, playing the lead role of Richie Cunningham from seasons one to seven. He co-starred with John Wayne in the film “The Gunslinger”. In 1986, he appeared in the TV movie “Return to Mayberry”. He even appeared on “The Andy Griffith Show” and the 30th anniversary reunion of “Happy Days”.

Ron Howard married writer Cheryl Howard on June 7, 1975. They currently live in Beverly Hills, California. The couple’s four children are named after their birthplaces.
He named his first daughter Bryce Dallas Howard because she was born in Dallas, named his twin daughters Jocelyn Howard and Peggy Howard because they were born at the Carlyle Hotel, and named his fourth child Reed Howard in honor of a highway.
His grandchildren are Theodore Norman Howard-Gabel and Beatrice Jean Howard-Gabel.
