Lewis Carl Davidson Hamilton (born 7 January 1985) is a British professional racing driver. He currently competes in the top class of single-seater racing known as Formula One.
Won World Driving Championship shared this record seven times with legend Michael Schumacher.

Early life and education
Lewis Hamilton was born in Stevenage, England, on January 7, 1985, into a mixed-race family. His father, Anthony Hamilton, is from Grenada, and his mother, Carmen Larbalestier, is white British. Lewis’s parents divorced when he was two years old, and he lived with his mother until he was ten.
He moved in with his father, stepmother and half-brother. Lewis Hamilton had three siblings named Nicolas Hamilton, Nicola Lockhart and Samantha Lockhart during his childhood.
Lewis Hamilton was educated at John Henry Newman Schoola voluntary aided Catholic secondary school in Stevenage, England.
Career
Lewis Hamilton’s racing journey began in 1993 when he tried his hand at karting. Showing exceptional talent and determination, he quickly rose through the ranks and won the British Karting Championship in 1996.
Further into his career, Hamilton moved into racing in 2001, where he entered the highly competitive British Formula Renault Winter Series. Despite stiff competition, he managed to finish a commendable fifth in the overall standings.
The following year saw Hamilton’s continued dedication and perseverance as he entered the Formula Renault UK championship and eventually finished fifth overall.
Lewis Hamilton’s career took a significant turn in 2005 when he entered the Formula Three Euroseries and became champion. That same year, he also won the prestigious Masters of Formula 3 race. In 2006, he ventured into the GP2 Series and won another championship title.
In 2007, Hamilton made his Formula 1 debut with McLaren. He made history by becoming the first black driver to finish second in the championship at the end of the season. He also won four more races that year after taking the lead at the Canadian Grand Prix.
In 2008, Lewis Hamilton won his first World Championship, making history as the first black driver to achieve this honor. He also won the title at the age of 23, making him the youngest driver ever. He has since won the championship six more times in the following years: 2014, 2015, 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020.
Hamilton was unable to defend his World Drivers’ Championship title in 2021, as Max Verstappen beat him in a controversial final race of the season. However, Hamilton is still considered a leading contender for the 2023 title.
