Life Below Zero: Meet the Cole Sturgis Family
Cole Sturgis from Life below Zero is one of the new actors of Next generationHe lives in Thorne Bay, Alaska.
Cole’s efforts to prepare his daughters for life in the Southeast are followed throughout the season. The popular spinoff Life Below Zero: Next Generation, which will also debut its fourth season, was born from the long-running blockbuster series that won eight Emmy Awards. The new season of Life Below Zero features compelling new stories of survival and resilience in the harsh winter conditions of Alaska.
While Sue Aikens’ search for reindeer will be the main focus of Life below ZeroThe Next Generation team is tackling a completely different problem as the dark winter approaches Alaska. This happens during the December solstice, when outdoor light is virtually non-existent for two months. Since Alaska is so far north, where the sun rarely rises above the horizon due to its proximity to the poles, this is what happens there.
Ricko DeWilde’s children are actively involved in their way of life. As he educates his children about sustainable practices and survival skills, DeWilde uses crows to track Alaskan black bass. The Hailstones adapt to uncertain times, Andy Bassich and Denise Becker search for new resources on the Yukon River, and Jessie Holmes struggles to recover from a near-fatal injury.
The next generation pushes the boundaries of the backcountry as a bleak winter approaches in Life Below Zero: The Next Generation. Johnny Rolfe uses his powers to conquer the Brooks Range. The Roaches seek opportunity in new territory. In Hayes Valley, Mario and Clare learn survival skills. On the Kenai Coast, the Sarvelas face unusual circumstances.
Their two-story floating home in Thorne Bay, Alaska, requires a lot of maintenance. They are surrounded by forest and water on Prince Wales Island, which has no access to any vehicles. “If you don’t maintain it, nature will take it back,” Cole says. They also own a boat, which Cole takes out to sea every day to get food.
