Chicago rapper Lil Durk talks about being in federal custody in a recently leaked audio clip, which is made even more intriguing by comments the rapper made about being in protective custody.
The phone call resurfaced on social media on Friday, appearing to be the first time the Chicago rapper has spoken out since being transferred to a California prison last month.
In the nearly two-minute clip, Lil Durk tells the caller that he’s fine and remains optimistic. In the recording, he is heard saying: “I’m fine, my spirits are high.”
The rapper also expressed that he is being well received by other inmates, while also dropping hints that he needs special protection because of his crime.
A user on Instagram, who claimed to be an associate of Lil Durk, shared the audio. Users continued to share their support for the rapper while highlighting his personality in their posts.
“Just talked to my brudda @lildurk. He is in good spirits, staying positive and fighting to get home to his kids and family,” the user wrote.
Rap star Lil Durk – real name Durk Derrick Banks – was arrested last month on charges of attempted murder. He has been charged with conspiracy and firearms offenses and if convicted, he could face up to life in prison.
During a hearing in federal court in Los Angeles, the rapper pleaded not guilty. He will begin trial on January 7, 2025 and will appear in court for a bail hearing on December 12.
The phone call went viral among fans and the media, making many people hope that the rapper will soon be released. Fans have stepped up to support Lil Durk, recently pointing out what a kind family man he is as the case progresses.
