Chicago rapper Lil Reese (Tavares Taylor), 31, was sentenced to five years in prison after being convicted of aggravated assault of a family member.

According to police records from Harris County, Texas, sentencing took place on October 16, with release scheduled for February 6, 2029. He will be eligible for parole in November. August 2026.

The conviction stems from an incident that occurred on March 9, 2022, although specific details remain unclear. Reese was arrested in May 2022 and held on $60,000 bail.

More recently, in September 2023, Reese faced more legal trouble when he was arrested for allegedly assaulting his ex-girlfriend at a strip club in Houston. According to authorities, Reese tried to kiss the woman multiple times around 6:30 a.m.

When she refused his advances, he allegedly became violent, punched her and strangled her. The victim said he was “gasping” and feared for his life during the incident, which witnesses said broke up. Reese was arrested on September 29 and held without bail.

Prior to these incidents, Reese faced rape charges, although that case was dismissed. He addressed X’s firing, writing: “So today is my first court date for the fraud that bastard said I did and guess which case will be dismissed .I want to see them post and spread all this like they did when they told me to rap [sic] a mortgage b***h.”

He later posted his appearance form from the Los Angeles County District Court on Instagram, although the District Attorney’s office did not comment on the dismissal of the case.
