Early Life & Education
London Breed, a prominent political figure, was born in San Francisco, California, on August 11, 1974. Comelia Brown, her grandmother, raised her at the Plaza East public house in the city’s Western Addition. .
Breed has said that her childhood was “difficult” and that she “saw a lot of violence.” She also said that her strong and independent grandmother inspired her.
Born to immigrant parents, London Breed’s mother is from India, while her father is Jamaican. Her family consists of two siblings, with her brother, Napoleon Brown, currently serving a 44-year sentence for manslaughter and armed robbery in 2000. Additionally, her younger sister tragically passed away in 2006 from a drug overdose.
London Breed received his degree from University of California with honor. She graduated with honors from San Francisco’s Galileo High School. After graduating from high school, she enrolled at UC Davis and joined the Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority.
Career
London Breed’s political career began in 2012 when she was elected to the 5th District seat on the San Francisco Board of Supervisors. Recognized by her colleagues for her leadership talent, she was elected Chairman of the Board of Directors in 2015.
