Luke Combs revealed what happened on “one of the best days and one of the worst days” of his life while speaking to Apple Music’s Zane Lowe.

When discussing his new album, Father & SonCombs couldn’t help but talk about his own situation with his son, Beau Lee.

It was a particularly heartbreaking moment for Combs, missing the birth of his second son, Lee.
“I’ll never forget the craziest day, probably, close to it, of my life. One of the best days and one of the worst days of my life, so exciting, and It’s hard to cover my mind.” around it,” he confessed before going into detail about how much he missed his wife while giving birth.
“Today is August 16th. I woke up in the morning, I’m in Sydney, Australia, in a hotel room and we’re on tour in Australia. I woke up probably around 8am or so kind of like that, Australia time, I got a text from my wife saying, ‘I’m so sorry, I was really trying not to have kids while you were away,'” Combs recalls. Man, that’s terrible.”
At least Combs got to see his wife give birth, but only on FaceTime.
“It was too bad because he was born on August 15 in the United States. I got to see him born, which was amazing,” he recalled to Lowe. “He wasn’t born yet, but my wife was gone, she texted me on the way to the hospital, and he arrived two and a half weeks early and I was supposed to be home but I wasn’t.

That particular moment was especially difficult for Combs, which is why he told no one but Lowe.

“I didn’t cover too much of that on this album because it was really difficult for me,” Combs admits.
However, Combs made it through the day thanks to his strong support system.
“God, it’s been a tough day, but I’m so lucky to have so many of my closest friends working for me right now. And so I had a really great support system,” he shared. “I was able to be with them the whole time.”
Combs has released his latest album, Father & Son, June 14, 2024. It was preceded by the release of the album’s official single, “The Man He Sees in Me.” Riff describes the album as “a poignant ode to a new father-son relationship.”
