early life
LYD’s birth name is Lloyd Chikezie Achonye, from which he cleverly carved his nickname.
He was born on February 6, 1996, in Aba, Abia State, Nigeria.
LYD is from Imo State in southeastern Nigeria.
He grew up in Abia and Imo states, which helped him understand the culture of both countries.
Profession

Since this incident in 2010, he has been working hard to cultivate his rap art and establish himself as the best emcee in the world.

His victory in one of the controversial best rap competitions held in Aba, Abia State, led to him being hailed as the best MC in the southeastern part of Nigeria.
In 2016, Abba’s famous rap talent show Wetin U Get yielded to current rap artist LYD, who became one of the finalists of the competition.
Although he remained very popular during those years, LYD never released a song but we can trace that he had several unreleased songs which he performed in shows that attracted a huge number of fans in Abia State.
LYD released his first official single titled “Okocha” in 2021. The single is said to be a track from his mixtape “602 Vol. 1”.

The 602 Mixtape gave birth to several hit songs including 602 (the intro), Okocha, End SARS (a Bad influenced cover of Omah Lay), and a ton of other songs.
In order to keep his name on the lips of music lovers even more, LYD collaborated with Stimulus and Paulee The Wordsmith to create a song, No Title Cypher (NTC).
LYD surprised fans by teaming up with Headies Awards winning rapper Terry Tha Rapman on a nationally famous song called PruhBlem, which is still played on radio stations across the country.
LYD is also a proud member of the music group 3Sixteen.
